Phone your insurance company (or arrange online) for a cover note which they will issue you pending the full policy. You are then fully covered to get your pride and joy home. |

You have to buy the insurance first then buy the car. |

Ring the insurance company and get your cover note to start before you pick the car up. It is illegal to drive with no insurance and some reputable garages won't allow you to take the car away without a cover note. |

You dont normally take a car home on the day you see it. You arrange to buy it then they normally valet it and sort out the paperwork. You go home, sort out insurance (which will noramlly come the next day in the post) then you go and collect the car. |

Since insurance goes with vehicles, not with drivers, you leave it there until you have insurance on it. Just call your agent (or dad's insurance if you don't have a company yet) and tell them you are buying a car and need to drive it home. You will need the information about the vehicle, make, model, year and VIN and they can get it set on on insurance so you can get it.
Enjoy your ride. |

because youve bought the car you can insure it before you go and pick it up.you can ask insurer to start policy say an hour before you go and pick car up.get car details before hand then ring desired insurance.then collect the car.but pay car dealer a deposit you dont want to insure car then have him sell it to someone else . |

Call up a good independent insurance agent, have the VIN & your license # ready & get quotes. Do NOT drive the car home until you do this. If you MUST take it before you get insurance TOW it home. The garage will NOT provide you with temporary insurance. For 2 reasons: they no longer own the car & CAN'T insure it & they are not insurance agents so they can't sell you a policy. If you don't know who to call, ask friends, neighbors & family who they use & why. |

You can buy a trip permit to move the car from a dealer to your home. Its valid for three days and the cost varies in different states. You will be issued a temporary certificate that you display it (tape it) on the rear glass, so that its visible from behind . |

It's simple - you approach an insurer and say "Can I have some insurance, please?"
Alternatively, as you say, you can get someone else to drive it home. As long as they're insured to drive it, there's no problem. (Many garages will insist on the driver being insured before they'll release the car, to cover themselves against a charge of "allowing an uninsured vehicle to be driven".) |

You get the vehicle info and provide it to your insurance agent. Pick up your paperwork at the insurance office, and then pick up the car. |

You will need to buy the insurance before you can drive the car off the lot. All you will need to get your insurance is the VIN number, so you can call the garage to do get that, set up the insurance, then pick up your car. |

Nearly all companies will write you a cover note as soon as you either pay for your insurance or at least the deposit of you take it on payments.
The company you buy the car from will probably want to see the cover note before they will let you take the car anyway. Insurance companies can fax a copy across to them if they insist in seeing something.
If you use a local insurance company they will be able to write you a cover note there and then, doing it online would probably be cheaper so you'll have to wait a day or two for the paperwork to arrive.
If you want to get the car home, why not take another driver with you? Anyone with car insurance will have a minimum cover so they can drive any car so at least you'll have it on the drive all ready to go as soon as your ready. |

If you really want the car and know it's the car you are going to buy then sort it out the insurance for it, the certificate should arrive withina few days - but you are still covered. Even if you get pulled, you have 7 days to produce and that should be enough time for your certificate to come through the post. |

The garage will sometimes give you temporary insurance when you buy the car.
If they dont you can get insured straight away from most companies. You just to fill in the details or phone them.
You could ring around for quotes on the type of car you are thinking of buying and them ring them back with the actual car details once you have purchased it.
happy motoring ! =) |
