When you don't have MED PAY(insurance directly pays your medical bills) or Medical Insurance (HMO, PPO) or cash to pay for bills or if you were'nt really injured and no need for medical attention. An Attourney acts as a guarantor for the Doctors and Chiropractors and as a negotiator for you, However A lawyer needs Ammo to Negotiate with.. ie Damages, Pain and suffering, loss wages. if there's no ammo then the lawyer probably won't take your case (any honest lawyer won't)
Now let's say you have Med Pay or health insurance or Cash then all you really need is a negotiator, why pay 33% for a negotiator? you ask
You're absolutely right. I wouldn't pay for something you can do yourself. before negotiating yourself I recommend doing your research it's all public knowledge... After every accident if the police arrive on the scene they rate the accident. Low levels mean minor injuries higher levels mean higher injuries... The insurance Adjuster uses that plus property damage as an indicator to how much the company is willing to pay out..each level has a cap... a person with soft tissue damage(sprains, whiplash,soreness ) will receive up to a certain amount let's say $15,000 out of that your med bills, Attourney fees and loss wages are paid
broken bones, Cuts & bruises is a higher level it's cap is a higher amount.... you get the picture...
Now knowing that info plus having Medical bills covered make you a perfect candidate for not needing an attourney.Cut out the lawyer results in an 33% passed to the negotiator.
Now if the accident was your fault and/or there's an uninsured motorist well that's for someone else to answer Namely an attourney. |

Never, assuming you have adequate insurance in place, and are not at fault. Your insurance company will represent you, including attorneys if any are needed. |
