When you become 18 and you have never had your permit to drive can you just go and get your liscense anyways?

You probably have to get a permit first, but you can probably turn around and get the license a few days later. You usually have to schedule the test.

Ooo bad idea.. in my state we have to get out permit first. Hope you don't get pulled over till then or you'll be in some major hot water

That's really a state-by-state thing. Most states will let you go for it, even if you don't have a permit. The idea is that the permit give you time to learn, but if you don't feel it necessary, they don't either. Give your local DMV a call and ask them. Good Luck.

i believe so yes. the permit is just while your underage and before you are license...they may just give you a temp permit until you have your license so you can practice before you getting your license. call your dmv or call some driving school and ask them. they should be able to tell you.

Depends on the laws of your state. In my state you have to get a permit first, and we also have graduated licensing. You have a permit for one year where you can only drive with someone over 18 in the car, then you get your license but for the first 6 months you can only drive from like 6 AM to 9PM or something like that, then you get your full license where you can drive anytime! I think most states do require a permit first. But remember, when you insure that Dodge Dakota, you are probably going to have to deal with inexperienced operator rates for the first 3 years you are licensed. Most insurance companies do this. And it's never a good idea to drive without a license, that's illegal and you can get a ticket for it, which will make your insurance even higher.
