The way I did that was to have a trader's policy. This meant I was insured to drive and ride anything with wheels.
Whether you can get that or not is another matter, but at least you know there is such a thing. Knowledge is Power.

Actually, there are still some companies that do that in certain states. I know that my company does in about four of the states in the East Coast and State Farm and Allstate do them all on the same policy in quite a few states!
The industry is trying to move away from that, though. Motorcycles require more specific coverage that you just can't put on autos, so a lot of them (Nationwide, Geico, Progressive for some examples) have been starting the push to having Stand Alone policies for Motorcyles.. something that really is specific for that kind of vehicle.
Now, while they might not be on the same policy, keep in mind that with a lot of those companies, you can still get them on the same bill and everything.. it'll just be a different policy number. |

As far as I know, there is no such thing. These are two different and distinct modes of transportation, unique unto themselves. The best you can do in this situation is to get a motorcyle policy and an auto policy BOTH with the same insurance company. Most automobile insurance companies have motorcycle policies as well. By doing this you may even get a multi-policy discount but you will have to shop around for the best quote. |

I have just finished insurance shopping and I was not able to find any insurance company that offers one policy for motorcycles and cars. I don't know of any, but I didn't find any out of the 10 or so companies I got quotes from.
I had to get 2 policies, but I get the multiple policy discount at least. |

You can't. They are two different policies, just like you can't insure your car on your home policy. You CAN insure them w/ the same company, there are a lot out there that will do that, and you'll probably get a discount f/ having multiple policies w/ one company. If I were you I would call a local agent who can help you shop around and advise you of what coverages you should have. |
