www.swiftcover.com and although it's cheaper to have yourself as a named driver you'll never build up your own status for no claims bonus etc. You'll be hard hit now but if you take your own policy out you'll benefit from doing that in the future. If you don't then you'll be hard hit in the future whilst everyone else will be getting theirs cheaper. |

Another family as a main driver but with protected no claims! Vectras are not the cheapest cars but I suggest going with someone like quidco.com or greasypalm.co.uk and you can get cash back on top of the insurance premium. Honestly I always get a dirt cheap yearly premium by going round all the insurers on the list on these sites rather than the comparison sites as invariably I find they are hard to compare and don't always reflect an accurate price.
I think Direct Line have been advertising that named drivers get their own no-claims discount which is well worth while as it might be a bit more pricey with them but it will mean a reduction in years to come - unless you have a smash!!
Good luck |

Good Luck
Keep checking around and ask your friends... There is some huge difference in cost... It may be cheaper to have someone else as the principle driver but if you are the main driver then you best be down as such because if you are not and you have an accident then you may find you will not be insured... and believe me they will check.... |

Go to a broker, they deal with multiple companies and usually give you the best rate. I wouldn't go with the national carriers, everytime I check their rates they are always way higher than what I'm paying now. I'm with American Independent Services, they're pretty good, but I don't know if they have coverage where you live. |

Try an insurance broker that doesn't charge any fees. Not sure if Progressive charges, but I know for sure that Apollo doesn't. They usually check several agencies and get you the best price. |

Confused dot com just like most of the compare sites are NOT the cheapest.... They make there money by advertising and putting custom towards a small number of insurance companies who they use......
Sometimes you can get a reasonable quote via of these sites but you normally can find it cheaper else where.....
Try a insurance broker as well as these compare sites.....
Regards putting a close family member as a named driver , it sometimes is cheaper but can be much more expensive as it was when i payed for my son's insurance.....
I used A-plan ,,,,, there in the phone book.... i couldn't get it cheaper anywhere else but it all depends on individuals

My son is taking driving lessons and i would like to take him out to practice in between. My insurance won't allow me to add him onto my policy as he is a musician. Do we both need to be on the same policy or can i get a separate one for him. Any suggestions welcome. He's 26 years old. |
