Where do car insurers get their statistics from?

All insurance companies get their statistics from insurance actuaries that work for them. The actuaries have college degrees in what they do and they also use other sources from books, encyclopedias, university studies, their own studies, etc. The Actuaries spend a lot of time on what they do though.
