Which cars are cheapest to insure?
|
I've had some problems in the past and my insurance is through the roof. I'd like to finance a car, but I don't want to have to rob banks to afford it. Does it cost different amounts to insure cars? Which are on the cheaper end of that spectrum?

Older model cars.
Sedans and economy type cars.
Cars that have more safety features, meaning front driver and passenger airbags, side air bags, crumple zones, fuel tank cut offss, and engine blocks that drop down and out.
Cars that have more security features, factory installed alarms and On-Star, as well as Lo-Jack to deter car thieves if it is available in your area. |

There are a few really easy things too look at.
First, how much will the car cost to fix/replace? If the answer to this question is a high dollar amount, it will cost more.
Second, likely is the car to be driven fast or broken into? The more likely, the more expensive it gets.
Third, How safe is the car? Will the vehicle keep the passenger safe in the event of an accident. If not, rates will be higher.
There are some tricks you can use to keep your insurance down though. Check out this site and do a little research.

You generally find that the smaller the engine, the cheaper the insurance is, with a few exceptions. |

The highest cars to insure are sports cars in most cases. Also, take into consideration that cars in which are rare or very expensive can also cost more to insure. Vehicles in which are stolen a lot can also cost a lot to insure. Some examples of vehicles that are stolen often are Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. However, these are very nice cars and probably some of the best sellers in America and this can impact the numbers of theft. You should just get a car in which you will enjoy for a long time. Don't get into a big hurry and do research on the cars you are thinking about. Get some quotes one the cars once you narrow down your choices to see what the price difference is. This may help you make a decision on what vehicle to buy and what will be the cheapest car to purchase. I like to get auto insurance quotes and I do it quite often on the Internet. It is now faster and easier than ever to get quotes on the Internet and you probably can save a lot of money. Quotes are free and help you understand more about coverage options each driver has and may need or want. |

Older economy cars. Maybe one that's 10 years old or more, and aren't capable of dangerous speedy driving, either.
Basically, the more the car is worth, the more it will cost to insure it. So getting a cheap old car that's not worth much, will be the cheaper option. |

Smaller cars. Not bright colored or sports cars. And nothing brand new. |

If the cae is not a sports car and is not too sporty, it will cost less to insure. If a car is not stolen a lot, it will cost less. Older cars cost less because in the event of a collission the insurance company does not have to pay out as much.
So pick a plain-Jane 4-door economy car that isn't used by kids for racing, and you'll save some money. Also, shop around for insurance, and buy within your means - 5-7 years is a LONG time for a car payment. |

ok... I got this down because my insurance company likes to rape unsuspecting victims.
drive a car that
is not a bright color... choose anythign that isnt bright yellow, red, orange, pink, etc.
4 door is always better
4 or 6 cylinder is cheaper than 8 or hemi
Something slightly larger... such as an impala will most likely be better than a VERY compact car.. if it's just slightly smaller liek a scion, ion, jeep thats fine.
If you say how much money you want to spend on a car and what year you would like I can give you spec. examples. |
