I'm 19 and was wondering which is the best company to get car insurance from and the best way of getting it the cheapest.?
Me and my dad are not quite sure of the tricks used to get the best deal, so i would appreciate it if you could help.?
A few of my friends get their insurance dirt cheap because they are named drivers on their parent's car - but when i try to get a quote online it still charges me over £1500.

Insurers caught up with the named driver thing. Anyway, do you play computer games? Getting quoted and finding the cheapest price is like a big computer game, the more you do it, the more you learn how to play.
The only thing is, you can't cheat. You must be honest when filling in forms. |

Copy your friends, or do your folks not drive? Failing that, just search around a lot, insurers vary with their prices.
Another "trick" is to buy third party only, that's no theft, no fire.

Enter your details and they will find you the best deal.
NB It is a good idea to say that the car does minimum mileage, is kept in a garage. This will keep the premium lower!

Its best not to be a named driver on someone else's policy as this does not always allow you to build up your own no claims bonus and allows you to get you own car insurance cheaper as the years go by. Try websites such as moneysupermarket.com and comparethemarket.com do not use websites like elephant.com or confused.com as these tend to add extra to the policy so they can make a profit |

I'm not sure if you qualify or not but I go through USAA. With geico my car insurrance (full coverage) was nearly 150 US dollars a month. With USAA it went down to 74.
But USAA is for military members and their family. So if you have had anyone in your family serve in the military then you would be eligble. |
