I was taking a left hand turn into a parking lot, and I check the oncoming traffic. There was no one. I began the turn into the parking lot.
While I was turning, a woman drove up (you can only see a few hundred yards because it is downhill from there) and hit me. I did not see her, and yes I did check.

If you turned left into the path of oncoming traffic that had the right of way, you are at fault. |

Sad to say, it is your fault. You failed to yield the right of way (even though you couldn't see her)
Also a few hundred yards should have been enough time to see her and get out of the way unless the speed limit is over 50mph, or she was speeding. And even if she was speeding, it is still considered all your fault for failing to yield, and she would likely not get into any trouble for the speeding bit (I've seen it before)
You can petition to have the speed limit in that are reduced if it is that high, you can also petition to have a traffic light placed there if there is no other route into the parking lot. |
