Who can you call when a car has been damaged whilst it has been reposessed?

I noticed that there has been damage to the side mirror of my car. The mirror has been broken not to mention that my car smells of cigarette smoke and the floor is littered with ash. Is there anyone I call call and can this damage be rectified without any expense to myself? Would there be a a document that lists the condition of the car when it was received by me and the present state now?

My car was reposessed last Wednesday. I had fallen behind by 2 months on car payments as it is under finance. I paid the balance outstanding including storage of the vehicle whilst it was repo'd, towing as well as extra costs totalling $600. I paid this amount that same week on the next day (Thursday). I only just received my car yesterday afternoon (as it was the soonest that it could be picked up apparently). I noticed the smell of smoke but I dismissed it, it was only after noticing the mirror that I wanted to know what can be done about it.

I am pretty certain that if it was damaged when it was repo'd, the company that picked it up is not responsible. See, the OWNER repossessed the car, and the only way you could get it back is to pay for it. So technically, they picked up their car. The only reason cars get repossessed is if you are not paying on it, or aren't carrying insurance on it while there is a loan.
I think I need more info. Your car was repossessed but you got it back?
