The car that hit you is to blame for any damage to your car. The Highway code tells drivers to drive behind a nother vehicle with a safe distance between you in case the other car in front has to brake in an emergency. it horrifies me when I see cars driven in the fast lane of a motorway being tailgated by the driver behind them. Do they ever think what can happen if the car in front had a tyre blowout or his engine suddenly cut out. |

the bloke at the back was in the wrong for being to close to you |

Usually the car in the back is at fault because they are supposed to pay attention to what is going on ahead of them (even though we all know that isn't always possible). |

As it states in the highway code, you should leave yourself enough space between you and the car in front to be able to stop in the event of an emergency. The car following you obviously didnt. It doesnt matter what you did, the car that rear ended you was in the wrong. Alot of insurance scams take advantage of this and purposly get rear ended to claim for damage and personal injury |

Unless you braked deliberately to cause the accident, the bloke behind is at fault. You should always allow enough space in case the car in front brakes suddenly.
I had a similar accident years ago. Everyone skidded except me. |

Him that hit you from behind.Down to the driver to be able to stop in time,no matter what he's confronted with. |

Here in the US, you are in the right and the dunce behind you is in the wrong for being too close...Good luck with this one! |

if for example the person in front braked to avoid hitting a kid you were far enough behind to stop the person behind you should have also being able , he was not so therefore at fault. keep a safe distance behind the car in front to be able to stop in an emergency. |

I would say the guy who hit you, but that is just based on the interpretation of my local laws. |

The person behind you should have been far enough away from you to stop safely. He is in the wrong.
you were a safe enough distance behind the car in front of you to stop without hitting him, so should the car behind you have been |

the person behind you is at fault. the person in front made an abrupt stop (emergency?) and well doen to you, you noticed and stopped in time. the person behind you didn't though so 90% of the time the insurance will say it's their fault. |

The answer to this one is....
The car behind you was too close and didn't have time to brake. Insurance wise he will be the one in the wrong!!
You are NOT the one in the wrong.....you stopped in time and didn't hit the car in front, so obviously you weren't too close. If you had have been you would have hit the car in front.
You don't say what made the car in front of you brake suddenly....but that doesn't matter, the only one in the wrong out of the 3 of you is the car that hit you!!
Hope this helps.......xXx |

In the USA it defaults that the person who hit you from behind is always at fault. I donno about the laws in the UK. |

the car at the back is to blame because he was too close and drove without due care and attention, that's what the charge will be if the police are involved, you done nothing wrong, don't worry. |

you were obviously driving at a safe distance from the car in front...the one behind you wasn't.
Hope you weren't injured. |

i think its the person behind you who is in the wrong - even though you and the car in front stopped abruptly, it was the person behind you who actually caused the accident. unfortunate for the person behind, but that's life. |

The guy that went into the back of you is to blame - he was clearly either driving to fast to react or he was too close...or both!
Any whiplash? Injuries? Possibly a sprained wrist....? :o) |

The car behind you was at fault thats a fact. |

The person who drives into you from behind is always at fault in the UK as he/she should have left sufficient stopping room. Unfortunately, there is a tendancy for people who run into the back of other people, to claim, dishonestly, that they were REVERSED into. If they can find a witness to back them up, sometimes the insurance company will accept their claim. In an accident, always get a witness, even if it appears clear-cut. |
