Why can't auto front license plates be optional?

So, what's so important about front license plates when some states don't have them. It takes away from the styling of the front of the car. I would never buy a car that has a sleek design hidden behind that license plate. Brochures and advertising doesn't show them and yet you are forced to have them. The license plate could be a small sticker on a bumper for heaven't sake.

Your states legislature determines if they want vehicles in your state to have one or two license plates. My state mandates a front plate, other states do not. If you believe that you can make a good argument to make the front plate optional, write to your local Representative and present your opinion. |

Some states, like AZ, don't require a front license plate. In the states that do, it's so law enforcement can identify your vehicle from the front. |

The State sets the law. Front plates make a vehicle much easier to identify. |
