Why does my car insurance cost too much?

I am 19 and just passed my test (UK). I have a 1.0 liter Micra and I have put my details in confused.com comparison website.
The quotes I am getting are around Â£4000. Is this right ? it seems too much. Any ideas?

What is too much?

It is the premium worked on on the costs of insuring males in the 17 to 24 age group who tend to have very expensive accidents.

If you were 17 the quote would be closer to Â£6,000
