Sorry for my language. English is not my native tongue.......
This is my story. I live in Hawaii and recently bought a used car.
The previous owner was very nice and it was a good deal. so I decided to buy that car.
He told me to go to DMV together to change the owner of the car.
He showed me the title of the car and the owner was a dealer of some company.
I asked him why and he told me he was leasing the car so the title was still the dealer.
And he also said he did not want put himself on the title.
At that time, I did not know about the car title and now I am the owner of the car... but now I am wondering,,,,, what if he did not make enough payments? Would it be my responsible to pay the lease? Am I going to be in a trouble? please someone help!!

It sounds like he sold the car to you with what is called an open title. In other words he probably bought and paid for the car but never registered it. Since he took you to the DMV and you have the car in your name there shouldn't be any problems. |
