I live in Mississauga ONT went to a Suzuki dealer introduce by a friend and his friend introduce another friend. I asked the dealer to get me a good price on a car, he says he got me a mazda 3 for $$$ askes me to make a deposit (1K) without me seeing the car or any specification (stupid of me). The next day he brings the car I test it and the final price was to expensive for such km. The next day I told him I want it cheaper due to the fact he told me it was 110km and when i checked it was more than it is. Called the boss left a vm i want a better price. He called me the next day and pressure me about how he is goign to cert/safety it all for me and so forth and do 199 inspection (scarcasim). Than he says come to my office today and talk about the price. 2 hrs later the sales man calls me and said he register the car on my name already because and just paid $100 for my parking ticket. I was like wtf he says come and we will talk about the price and how dare he registry the car without my approval yet since i'm disputing the price. At this point i don't even want the car now and was mislead assuming it was such kms and price. I just left a vm for the boss and cancel the whole deal. Can i get my deposite minus the parkign ticket and license plate and sticker?

If you didn't sign any papers, you should be able to get your money back. Threaten to get a lawyer -- that should scare them into getting your money back. If it doesn't, then maybe you should really get a lawyer. I wouldn't recommend that though, because your costs will then go over the original $1000 that you've lost, and by the time you settle, you will have lost money. Your best bet is to have a friendly chat with this con who has stolen your money. |

It all depends on whether or not you signed a sales contract. If you did, you may be SOL. It sounds as if you may not be a native Canadian. Please don't let anyone take advantage of you if this is true because it WILL happen again, if you are naive.
BTW, despite what another said here there is no 3 day cooling off period in any USA state for automobiles and I don't believe there is in Canada either. There is a cooling off period in each country if a purchase is made in ones own home but never for an auto purchase. most likely they registered the vehicle to make it currant, saving you money should decide to buy it. you've already told them you were dissatisfied with the mileage, money, etc. so they will do whatever it takes to make you the proud owner of a vehicle you don't really want. they can not force you to buy it, but you may have a problem getting your money back.(it's called a security deposit or good faith deposit), If
no paper work was done, and you have a receipt for the deposit, you've got a case. I don't know about where you are, but Ca. has a three day "cooling off" period-where you can cancel the deal |
