I live in california, and I am 16. I have had my licence for 5 months. I got a speeding ticket the other day. This is my second speeding ticket. I went to traffic school for the first one. THe court date isnt until january, so is my licence still good until then, or is in invalid right now? Will I lose my license if found guilty of speeding?

HELLO...if you haven't figured it out yet...STOP SPEEDING! If you don't know about how getting a ticket will effect you call the courthouse. By the way, I hope you do lose your license, maybe it will slow you down. Sheesh. |

Man you are 16 and are already breaking the rules. If I were the judge I would take it from you because apparently you are not mature enough and responsible enough to have the driver's license in the first place. If they don't take it from you consider that a god send and start paying attention to the traffic laws before you kill someone or someone kills you. Silly Silly Silly. |

You dont loose your license you just pay your ticket and move on. Unless you dont pay it then they suspend it. |

I'm assuming you still have your license and the cop didn't take it. Your license will be good until you go to court. I reccommend showing up with a lawyer. They should be able to convince the judge to let you keep your license. After that though, you'd better not get another ticket until after you turn 18. Slow down buddy. |

California and Washington have the same rules. My grandson is 17 and got his 2nd ticket. 1st was speeding the second was driving with expired tabs (non moving violation). His license was suspended for 6 months. He gets it back 6 days before his 18th birthday. If it's suspended and I believe it will be, you and your parents/guardians will receive a letter notifying you. Your driving privledge will end about a month after the letter is sent. I know this is bad news, but you asked. |

Well, even if you don't lose your license, your parents need to take your car from you or quit letting you drive theirs, when you are more mature, maybe you can handle it. You are making it hard on them and/or yourself...your insurance rates are gonna go up & you will hurt someone &/or yourself. Slow your butt down... |

Your licence is still valid since you are not guilty yet. Whether this will stay true after your court date is up to the judge. |

It's good until they take it away. Not sure how many points are deducted in CA for speeding. If they don't take your license, your insurance will probably go up. You're a bad risk now.
If it's not your personal car, you also have to worry about your parents not letting you drive theirs anymore. |

So far we live in a country that feels we are innocent until proven guilty, so your license is good until the judge or the DMV decides to take it away. Whether or not they take it, you may not be able to drive after court. If you think insurance is high now, just wait. |
