My car was stolen last night and my insurance was just cancelled. I still owe on my car. What do I do? If the car isn't found will I still have to make the payments to the car dealer?

The loan agreement says "I'll pay every month until it's paid off." It probably also says "I'll keep full coverage insurance on it".
Of course you will still have to make the payments. There is nothing in the contract that says "unless it gets stolen, then never mind" is there?
If you have the proper insurance and they gave the lender fair market value for the car, you would STILL have to pay the difference between what they gave and what you owed.
If you have no insurance, it's on you. |

If the insurance was cancelled before the car was stolen, you are in trouble. You will be expected to pay for it. If it is found, it may not be in good shape. (thieves do not look after things) . Good luck. |

If your car didn't have insurance when it was stolen, then yes you have to make payments. As terrible as that is, your still obligated to repay the loan. If your car is found, it's a safe bet that it will be damaged some how. If they catch the thief(s), you can sue them for the damage that they did. But settleing that will be a long time from now. |

was the car stolen before or after the insurance canceled? If it was after the car was stolen, call an attorney. If it was before, you'll have to pay for the car. |

dont do anything different for 30-45 days. if you still owe on the car after that time period the ins co will pay the finance co. dont cancel anything. |
