I was just involved in an accident last week during an ice storm. He told the police I lost control of my car on ice and hit his trailer. I told the police that the back of his trailer crossed over the yellow lines, came into my lane, and hit my car. No witnesses and no citations were given. I'm guessing that we will both be 50% at fault since neither of us can prove anything. His car was fine, but the 16 foot trailer he was towing is totaled. My Suburban has $16,800.00 worth of damage to it according to the State Farm adjuster. I got banged up pretty bad in the accident, but said I was OK because I'm afraid my insurance will go up more if I say I got injured. Does anyone know how the point system works in Oregon? I know this is why I pay for insurance, but the car repair bill is so large I'm afraid to add to it. Do more points get added to my record if there is an injury claim as well?

Your premiums will go up but here are too many variables to say how much. You need to talk to your insurance agent, They can give you an exact dollar amount. That's the bad news. The good news is that your premiums will not go because the claim gets larger. If you have medical payments cover and you have injuries as result of the accident, by all means file that claim also.r |
