in my experience they will not, insurance company's hate paying out even when you have a legitimate claim and it wasn't your fault, and they will try anything to get out of paying a claim, far better as another person has said is to say you had them nicked if they ask and nothing if they dont |

don't tell them you lost them! i wouldn't atleast. If they asked, i might tell them. Probably wouldnt. They might say sorry you screwed up and not cover your car then you won't have a ride |

I am sure the insurance company would do all it could to avoid paying. So I would suggest that you don't tell them, after all you can't be sure that there is a direct connection between the two. |

I think so aslong as 'reasonable care' was taken to make sure they weren't stolen. Like if they were in your bag or pocket, but not if you left them in the ignition or the car door or something. |

Some insurance companies will pay for the cost of replacing the car locks if the keys are lost or stolen (others pay to replace the locks if the keys are only stolen and you can guarantee that it is unlikely that a Direct company will provide this cover).
Insurance policies state that you must take reasonable care to prevent the loss of your vehicle. If, for instance, the keys were actually stolen but you thought they were lost then you MAY be covered if the theft happens very quickly - otherwise you may find that the insurance company will insist that the locks are replaced - and that you will not be covered if the car is stolen and it turns out that the stolen keys were used to gain entry (it would, of course, be up to the insurance company to prove this - it is not up to you to prove that the theft was by other means). |
