Was the police van pointing in your direction (with it's back to you)? Sometimes they are parked up there for other reasons. I've thought I've been caught no end of times.

If you have been caught then you will get a letter through in about 14 days max. They say that over 14 days and you can usually fight it in court as you're meant to have it in 14 days but I wouldn't recommend it at the speed you were doing because they could increase your penalty if you lose.

As you were doing under 100mph and not 30mph over the speed limit you should just get 3 points and a Â£60 fine which means you keep your licence but it is VERY important to slow down now as if you get caught again you will lose your licence.

Perhaps invest in a sat nav which gives speed camera locations when driving somewhere you don't know and beware in the summer when the police can be hiding out with their guns around any corner.

When I first started driving they were around a corner and behind a hedge in a tiny country village, right before the 30mph turns into a national speed limit.... so cheeky!

penalty for speeding is normally 3 points and a Â£60 fine. if you get 6 points in the first two years you will have your license revoked and have to re take your test.

I wouldn't worry too much, I suspect they were doing something else or the police car would have come after you. In any case, 90mph in a 70 limit normally only gets you Â£60 and 3 points.

As long as you were going under 96mph you should 'only' 3 get points but hopefully the police weren't doing speed checks so you won't get any points... fingers crossed!

well, that depends really.

If you got caught by a speed camera, you would definitely get a fine and possibly some penalty points.

However it is now in the police's power to issue 6 points for a speeding offence which would mean you would lose your licence as in your first 2 years of driving you can only accumulate 6 points.

But on the other hand if you didn't get caught by any speed cameras then nothing will happen.

EDIT: Also if you got caught by a stationary unmanned speed camera (GATSO cameras) you may also get a court summons. (see the source below)

No Traffic Offences for the first two years for new drivers. Most motorway traffic police cars have ANPR computers onboard and record every movement. You are usually taken into the Police car to view your driving behaviour once you have been stopped. If you are banned from driving , you are usually requested to take another driving test.

You get 6 points for doing 90mph. you would only get away with it if you have had your license for a few years because 95mph is a total ban.

no i dont think you will, it only a definate automatic ban if your goin over 100 or i thinkits 30mph over the limit your in,mind u my only worry would be that its ure first year and ur only allowed 6 points on ure licence. but if u go to court and plead that you need it for work i cant see them taking ure licence,just points and a fine

I wouldn't be too worried about, tickets gonna burn little hole in the pocket but that's about it. If you continue to get caught speeding yes, it could lead to the revok of your licence.

i dunno about england, but here at the states, you wouldn't get ur license taken away.. atleast not for speeding.. everyone speeds.. i'm sure ull b fine..
