I think your NCB stands for 2 years, after that you may loose a % of it if not all.

It depends on the insurance company. Most will let you keep your ncb for 2 years without insuring a car but there are a small few which only allow 1 year. Speak to your last insurance company and ask for proof of your ncb and ask them how much longer you can keep it before you either loose it or need to insure another car.

The no claims bonus lasts for two years of not being insured before losing it.

They will let you shelve your motor insurance and NCB for 12 months after that you loose it if you fail to re-insure.

no no claims bonus goes by years? they cant take it away from you for just cancelling your insurance

I was told quite recently that my NCB could be frozen for 12 months and then I would lose it all.
I was going to cancel my policy as I sold my car and didn't intend to replace it straight away but they told me that I would lose my hard-earned 4 years no claims. So instead I just let the policy run to it's natural conclusion and then bought an old car, just to insure so that I wouldn't lose my no claims.
Crap but it was the lesser of 2 evils. :-(

no but the dvla will send you a penalty in the post. and you cant get a tax disc.

nope, dont worry...i aint been insured for 2 years and i have a few no years claims....theyll stay forever
