Your insurance should pay out, however, they may investigate your claim prior to making you an offer as the tax and test were so short. If they think your in financial difficulty then they may suspect that you have done an "insurance job" on it. Should this be the case get onto citizens advice bureau and the insurance company's regulator.

of course they will pay you...the car is still legal...it was taxed & tested...so you will be paid out! ignore your friend!!

as long as you have a crime number from the police and the car has not been recovered

but if you car is found after it is payed out and the car is mod`ed with out you insurance company knowing about the mod you will have to pay it all back

You friend is misinformed. The vehicle is legal on the road until either tax or MOT runs out.

As long as you are insured upto the day it was taken then its yes. Its only the same as any insurance policy, as long as the policy was paid to date and upto the event of whatever mishap then the insurance company should honour your claim. There is no reason why they wouldn't.
Also if it was reported to the police and you had a claim number then use that number when you ring the insurance.

As long as your car has current Insurance ( 3rd PF&T or Full Comp), MOT and Road Tax they will pay you.

it doesn't matter! so long as you have third party, fire and theft or fully-comp then you should be covered. You will need a crime reference number so report it, if your keys were left in the car then it will be invalidated but otherwise ok.

Unless they suspect that you are doing an insurance job they will pay out. Your main problem will be if you left the keys in the car and it was unattended. Some companies would regard that as negligence and refuse to pay out

Provided you have theft cover on your policy and your car was locked and you didn't leave the keys in you should be OK
