Will my insurance company be informed of my none insurance conviction?

Hi, please i want to start by say please dont give my a lecture i no what i have done wrong:( I got stopped whilst walking to my mums cars after just going to my friends house... long story short i admitted to driving my mums car that i was uninsured on.... well im goin to court in a few days but my farther doesn't no about it :( but he insures my car will he found out what has happened by someone letting my issuance company no and then the insurance company letting my dad no ? ie that the policy is canceled ? it to be noted im probably wont get band only that i will just 6point and a fine which will mean i have to retake my test.

This could be worse than you think.

Your father insures a car - please note that if this is YOUR car then he is committing a criminal offence (known as fronting) in making a false statement for the purposes of obtaining insurance. I don't know if the police will pick this up of course - but in effect he has paid a few thousand pounds for a worthless peice of paper.

The situation is, as I understand, you were driving your mum's car without being insured. There are two (equally bad) possibilities.

1) Your mother knew that you were driving the vehicle and gave her permission - in which case she is guilty of aiding and abetting you in the committing of the act - and could be prosecuted for IN12 - which she would have to disclose to her insurers - putting up her premium.

2) Your mother did NOT know that you were driving her vehicle and had NOT given her permission - in which case the police could prosecute you for unauthorised taking. (UT40) which is a MUCH more serious offence.

As to your question - the insurance company will NOT be advised that you have been convicted of an offence, however it is the policyholder's responsibility to advise them of any change in material facts - usually this need only be done at renewal but read the policy wording carefully as some insurers insist on immediate disclosure. So if your father does NOT know about the conviction then if a claim comes in then YOU could be liable for all the costs - say a few million if injury is involved.

I suggest that you take the time to speak to a professional insurance broker about car insurance so that you do not make similar mistakes in the future.

Your insurance company wont b informed but you are better off disclosing it because if you have an accident and you havent disclosed it your insurance will be void so may as well not have the insurance again! Dont take the risk seriously its not worth it.

Take heed of what Turner said. What he is telling you is that if you do not disclose this to your insurers and you have an accident that is deemed your fault where not only is the other parties car damaged but they are seriously injured you could be financially crippled for the next 20 years when they successfully sue you for massive damages! Your insurance company will say up yours mate you did not disclose your conviction, your policy is void, you are on your own.

You are legally required to inform your insurance.
If you do not and you get into problems then your insurance will cancelled.
Your dad will know when he sees the renewal quote. No NCB and loaded.

They will know after the court and police so best to phone them and avoid wasting your money paying for an insurance policy that is more than likely void. Also, you will be penalised heavily by the insurance on future policies as I think the In10 code on your licence will cost you dear. My brother had that years ago.
There are companies that specialise in convicted drivers on the web but you'll have to have a good look round for the best price.

If you did not get cought driving the car then they cannot prosecute you even though you said you did you could have been joking.
