I just received a ticket for 8 points. I live in Michigan at the present time and we have idiot laws regarding our drivers licence and the point system. Supposedly if you have more than or 8 points, you pay 100 dollars for each point over 8 each year to keep your licence. I am going to move to Arizona after I graduate from college this year in May. When I do this I plan to acquire an Arizona licence right away.
I have a few questions for somebody who is educated in this area. First, will my points stop me from acquiring the licence in Arizona? Second, will my points transfer to my Arizona licence if I can even acquire one. Third, will I still have to pay the fines from the Michigan licence to acquire my Arizona licence? Keep in mind that I actually won't be billed in Michigan until the end of the year.

Kevin!?!? Have you not been reading this site? If you had you would have known that in this age of technology all your information (Drivers license included) follows you wherever you go or do. Your points will follow and what usually happens is when you go to turn your Michigan License in to Arizona to change It, they probably will tell you to first Pay up what you owe In Michigan. If your under suspension expect that they will honor this, also. So, when you finish all this with Michigan you can expect that your Arizona License will be Issued with the 8 points. That end of the year thing does not compute Somehow it will be effective immediately. It is to your benefit. Would you want to wait until the end of the year to get your license? I didn't think so. The laws in Arizona will be different as Is the point and fine scales but you will have to abide by Michigan for the remainder of your License problems. why not just follow laws and not put yourself and everybody else at risk because of selfish reason? Driving is not that hard and police are not that difficult to avoid? I have a really fast car and have never been pulled over... so figure out whats wrong with your driving then worry about all that stuff. |
