i got pulled over and given a ticket of $180 for an improper turn and failure to show insurance. i did not have insurance at the time (i do have it now). my car was indeed registered at the time. i had a court date and missed it, they gave me another date and i missed that. then i got a letter stating i had a bail of $200 and a warrant for my arrest for failure to show in court. i went to the courthouse and paid the bail right away. then i received a new court date, which i will be going to. i also have representation of a lawyer (paid him $400 to help me with this). a lady from the law office tells me today that its a strong possibility that i will have my license suspended for 7 mos. i'm in nj. im trying to stay positive about this, and im wondering what are chances of me getting out of this. i can count on one hand, how many tickets i've received since ive been driving and ive paid them all off right away. i've been driving for 2 years now. please help!

Have fun walking!! I guess you were just to busy to go to court the first two times? You are a perfect example of a young careless driver who has no respect for the law!! I hope you loose your licence for a few years, that would help keep other drivers safe from your wreckless ways!!! |

those citations don't carry the penalty of suspended license automatically so it's a matter of points you get 12 points every year and they don't rollover so do the math and see if you've lost all twelve, and hope for the best if the officer doesn't show the tickets are dismissed |

sounds like you are bragging about being able to "count on one hand" the tickets you have received in two years. thats five in two years for a new driver. please buy some comfortable walking shoes or a bus pass.... |

Missing the first two court dates without a good reason was a big mistake, that just gives them extra power againest you, best option for you now is to do everything the police want you to do, it's way too late to fight it now. |

See how many points are on your license and see how many NJ will allow you to have before it's suspended. They may make you take a class to keep your license.
I dont think they would suspend your license for failure to show up in court.. that just brings a whole other set of problems, as you've seen.
I believe the main thing would be to see how many points you have, and go ahead and check into taking a class to remove some of them. |
