Will the insurance company still pay for the damages to my car?
|
I was hit, the driver admitted liability and has contacted his insurance company and they have already contacted me. But my plates are suspended. Will they still pay the damages?

Yes, they will. Coverage doesn't depend on whether your plates are suspended. |

If the shoe fits...

I believe (but double check with the DMV) that because the driver admitted that the accident was his/her fault that the insurance company (his/hers) would be obligated to pay. You may (and probably will) get fined for having suspended plates. Hope this helps out. Good luck. |

Your plates are suspended? As in you have no insurance?
You were lucky...take some of that money you get from the damages and get some insurance...the situation could've been reversed and you'd be in some serious crap, if you know what I mean. |

Yes. insurance has nothing to do with whether or not your plates are suspended. |

(1) There should be a resource at your local library for lawyers who may help low income folks. (2) Call your state government and ask for help with a legal firm that would specialize in this area. (3) Call your local Police Dept. and ask them also as to what your rights are and what direction they might help to point you in.
I hope it did not take place in Minnesota! Where we have that Polish car insurance called "MY FAULT" Oh, ah, I mean No Fault. |

i'll bet the most accurate answer is: depends on the insurance company and maybe on state laws..... neither one of which i claim to be the least knowledgable about directly............................. so, if the other company cuts you a check, get a quick ride to the bank and deposit it. ..... if they don't, your company may go after them for the money, but if your insurance company [contractually] requires that your car be properly licensed, they may say no, too..... i've heard of licenses being suspended, but not registrations..... learn a hard lesson.......... don't let yourself get into a situation like this EVER again! |

If your plates were suspended, the vehicle should not have been on the road. You may well be out of luck. |

If you had insurance and a drivers license Yes! If it's just you were late paying your registration. But, if you didn't have insurance and you had no current registration they don't have to as you were not suppose to be driving. |
