when im 18 i will go and study in england. my dad told me that he will buy me a Mercedes slk (the new sports) for my birthday. the only problem is... will they ensure an 18 year old in the uk with such a fast car? ~it goes 200km.~

Your Dad may be rich enough to buy you an SLK but will he be prepared to pay for insurance which will cost you or him thousands of pounds per year that is assuming that you can find an insurance company prepared to take the risk.
Perhaps you should set your sights a bit lower and buy a more sensible car which is better suited to a new young driver. |

As you don't know how fast the car will go, it's pretty obvious you are not actually getting one, isn't it...?
155mph is 249km/h, not 200km/h as you incorrectly stated. Why are you bothering to make this all up? |

Sorry there is no chance. You will have to make do with a much lower value and engine size car at your age. A Vauxhall/Opel Corsa for example and not a sporty model. You will also need a UK driving licence to get UK insurance unless for a hire car.
Also remember that unless you have an EU country licence you will need to take a test in the UK within 12 months of arrival if you wish to continue to drive here |

Also look up call connection 0845 073 1212 they will ask you a series of questions and put you through only to companies that will be able to quote.

It's very likely that no company will insure an 18-year-old with a car that fast and that expensive, unless Dad knows someone at Lloyd's of London. Better lower your expectations. |

Firstly, it can only go 70 mph in the uk, that's the country max limit.
Secondly, you will have to be at least 21 with a good driving record to be able to get a quote, some companies will probably insist that you are over 25. |
