I have comprehensive insurance on my car but it is currently untaxed (off the road although I haven't completed a SORN declaration yet).
I was driving someone else's car as a one-off thinking my insurance would mean that I was covered third party (the owner of the car had fully comp) but now I'm not sure if my insurance is valid.
Does the fact that it's invalid for my car mean it's invalid for everything else?

If you have not completed SORN and it is not taxed you will have more to worry about when the fine that could already be on the way to you arrives. (You have 14 days grace from when the tax runs out and given that it must have run out at least 30 days ago you are well out of time)
On your main point I can see no problems as in the event of a claim your car would not be investigated for roadworthyness and tax. |

If you have suspended your insurance cover, you're not covered for anything. If it's still in force and would normally cover you for driving other cars, it's still valid. Read your insurance certificate. |

No, the fact your car is off the road won't invalidate your insurance policy as long as it's current.
However, your insurance won't necessarily give you cover to drive another vehicle - you MUST check your policy wording to ensure you're covered. |

on his policy. |

Third party only covers damage inflicted by your car. So it would be invalid if you are driving another persons car. And if its already invalid for your car then it definitely is for you driving another persons car. |
