My uncle was spray painting his deck (toner - penetrating oiling formula) and didn't pay attention and it was quite windy that day it got all over my car. Now would my insurance cover this claim or not? What you guys think what should I do? I think it will cost me around $7000 to $8000 and I have full insurance. Thanks for your replies

I took to Auto body shop & they said the paint has penetrated in and I would have to get my whole care repainted...it's Lexus RX350

Sure they would cover it under your comprehensive coverage (minus your deductible) However, they will possibly go after your uncle after to get their money back since he was at fault. |

It should, but it won't cover the medical bills for the beating you should have inflicted on the family member.;-)) |

The situation is turning in to too big a deal.In the body shop we remove that type of overspray with clean rags soaked in lacquer thinner,then re-wax it.Cost is about $150 if you can't do it yourself. |

What kind of car do you have that would cost that much to paint? Did you park on your uncle`s driveway knowing he was painting? Where was his vehicle? If it`s that bad that your car needs repainting, I guess you can`t see thru the windows to drive it either. Any good body shop can clean that up for a lot less. You don`t want a claim for something that minor. |

If you shop around and compare quotes, you can save a good amount of money.
when i got my first policy i was just so anxious that I just used whatever my parents had.
The comparison sites are the easiest way to get quotes fast, and i wish I did this at first.

guess the main question is where this took place? Was it at your family members house? If so, claim under his home insurance. If not, if you carry comprehensive damage on your car, you can claim on that portion less the deductible. If neither is an option, try a mild rubbing compound. Allow at least 24 hours after removing the compound for the paint to breath. Apply a clear coat polish. |
