Would my dad be able to take my car even if it is in my name and the insurance n registation is in mine to?

i am 17 years old and i really just dont like living at home at all my parents can be really horrible at time. so i really just wanna move out and get away from it all. i have a job and my car belongs to me and its all in my name the insurance and the registation yes my dad bought it but they signed it over to me the whole car everything the title is now in my name...so can he take my car from me or come after me for the car if i move out? and could they come after me in general if i leave cuz im still only 17? even though i have a job and i pay all my bills by myself......

If you are absolutely sure only your name is on the title then no, he can not take the vehicle from you. However, in the eyes of the law you are still under age and if you move out and your parents decide to take action they can do that. If it were me I'd wait until I was 18. Save some money for emergencies. That way when you do move out you don't end up in a position of having to go back to them for help. What ever you decide, good luck and best wishes.

You CANNOT own a car by yourself when you are 17, His name is on it also!

Wait until you are 18.

Technically speaking, he can't take the car since you're the owner. The fact that he paid for it is irrelevant. If I gave <something> to you, can I get that <something> back by sneaking in your house at night while you're away? Surely not.

However, you need to be emancipated by the courts in order to sign papers and such by yourself (i.e. as an adult, so to speak). If there's really that much problem, you may need to contact local agencies.

Until you turn 18 he is legally responsible for you and anything you do. Yes, he can take the car.

you are underage and at 17 you rightly cant be the only name on the title of the car and that means that your dad could take it away. I understand the need to move out and everything I did that. But you must wait until you are an adult in the eyes of the law. its smarter and safer plus it gives you until your 18th birthday to save up and everything so you can be ready to live on your own.... I wish you the best, good luck

If the care is in your name you own it. If they are making payments They could go to court and try to get it, but it would cost them time and money so they probably might not want to go that route. Since you are 17 they could call the police and report you as a run away... The best route to take is to get emancipated if you really want to move out. Look at this web site for more info. I hope this helps.

He can not take your car, because that would be grand theft auto. About the moving out thing, I did when I was 17, and I don't know if you legally can, but I wish I stayed. Life is tough on your own. I don't think they can do anything though, because you can be convicted of crime like an adult. You might want to check with a legal representative and ask him/her some questions.

They can't take the car away from you since it is registered in your name.

But until you turn 18, you are still considered a minor and therefore you are in your parents' custody until then, so don't run away because they can go after you and make your life a living hell.

If you really must leave before you become a legal adult, then you will need to become an emancipated minor. I don't think you can do that without an attorney, but since I'm guessing your job does not pay that well, you probably could not afford the attorney fees.

My advice to you would be to just stick it out until your 18th birthday and then you're free to do whatever you want in life.

If your name is on the title he can't take it away but because you're under 18 anything you sign is invalid your signature is not valid until you're 18 years old I know it's stupid but that's the way it is. If you pay the bill then it's pretty much yours.

Due process. YOUR property cannot be taken from you without due process. To answer your question, NO, your father cannot take your car from you. Even if he took you to court. You have ALL the power over your parents, if there is a problem, call C.hild P.rotective S.ervices, ask to speak to a councelor. You have to attend school, or get a G.E.D., thats just how things work in the U.S.A. Best of luck to you.
