Would you drive?

ok yesterday i called the dmv i live in california to see why i haven't received my driver's licence renewal and they told me my licence had been suspended since june last year,i freaked out cause i've been driving without knowing come to find out it was because i owed a past due amount of $800 dollars for old child support,so today i went to make a payement so they can reinstate my lic.but now they said i have to wait atleast 3 weeks for sacramento to put it in their system but they did give me a copy of the lift of suspenion do you think i'd be safe to drive with this paper or should i wait 3 weeks for it to go thru the system?i'm very frustrated cause i don't want to get another fine for driving on a suspened lic.do you think if i did get pulled over a cop would except that paper saying my lic will no longer be suspended?

Yes, they will accept that but do not forget it and I would make an extra copy, one for the glovebox and one for your purse...

I work in the auto insurance field and that is definately acceptable....

As long as you have that copy of the suspension release then your fine ..unless of course your licence is expired but hopefully you re newed it while you were there .
I'm surprised you didn't receive notification of the suspension before .. that would be normal procedures .

2 things - One, did they say you can drive now with the note? Two, call you local police directly and ASK. Don't be paranoid, they're not going to track down your address, park outside your house, and wait for you to drive illegally so they can ticket you...really! If you're worried about THAT, call from a public phone. But you should make sure that you at least KNOW you will get a ticket, even if you have a receipt, if the cops say you will. The police are your friends, not your enemy. Use them for the info. Besides, have you paid for your renewal yet? If not, then you are probably still expired , even if not suspended. So, CALL AND ASK THE POLICE DIRECTLY. Why are you asking Yahoo Answers? Sheesh. - The Gremlin -

IF I was in your situation I think I would call the DMV or HIGHWAY PARTROL and ask them if your paperwork would be accepted if you happen to get pulled over.

To be on the safe side, I would call or go down to the DMV and ask if it will be okay for you to drive or if you had to wait for it to go through the system.

I think so, I would, if you are pulled over give them your drivers license, registration, and the receipt saying that you are clear for legalized driving in case it has not reached the system yet.

When I got my license I drove around with a receipt until my new card came in. I asked the DMV if it was legit and they said, "yes."

wow, i live in sac, anyway, as long as u have that slip i would say go for it. if u get pulled over just tell the cop u thought u could drive since u have that slip. hed be an azz if he gave u trouble over it, but i really dont think they would trip over it

Wow ..... I can't believe it.
Over there in the States you get suspended from driving because you haven't paid your Child Support.

Over here in New Zealand we go straight to our AA (Automobile Association), fill out a Renewal Form, get your picture taken and it takes 10 days for your new license to get to your letter box.

Anyone over here laxes on their Child Support they can pay about an extra $5-00 a week to catch up.

I just can't believe this.

I would drive hell i am only 14 yearsold and i am already driving my dads suv while he`s asleep but you are prbably wondering why don,t get caught iby the police (my dad know i drive and all he said was this be careful son) well for me its easy cause i am a professionally trained cadet in the junior specail forces so they also taought me fighting skills, steel a car and get away with it, break out of a maximum security prison, out drive authorities (like LAPD), trained to kill (and get away with it) with a pencil, ruler. duct tape, and i know how to work every weapon that can think of properly and when i told my g/f all this when i first met her she called me Jack Bauer junior so ya i`d drive but that is just to easy for me to say
