Wrong license plate number on parking ticket!!!?

there is no vin number on the ticket, it has the color and model of the car.
I called the local police department and asked if there is any outstanding parking ticket on my car, i gave them the license plate number, they said there is no outstanding parking ticket.
what should I do? I am broke now and I cant afford to pay fine with the late fees.

Sounds like you get a free pass, if they wrote the wrong license number on the ticket. There's no way they can track you down with the color and model of your car as there's just too many that are the same. Some poor soul who owns that plate is going to get a notice, some day in the future, of an outstanding ticket and will have to try to get it thrown out as a mistake because of the model and color. Hopefully he/she doesn't live in the same town and can prove they've never been there. |

If the plate is wrong, don't pay it, as they can't track it back to you.
I once got a parking ticket in NY City. ON (Ontario) plate, BJ6-321. Meter maid put it down as OH (Ohio) plate BJG-321.
Thats one I'm not paying... |

What fine? If they wrote the wrong plate # down on the ticket, there is absolutely no way you will ever be responsible to pay the ticket. Throw it out and consider yourself lucky.
I once got a ticket like this. It was a digital ticket that machine printed. Well the paper was not in the printer properly and printed the plate# over other writing. If they cant read the plate# then the ticket is invalid. |
