Technically, seeing as we recieve the registration label & payment form in the mail here in Victoria, One could simply peel the label off and apply it on the car without taking it to the RTA and paying for it.
How will anyone know that your driving around with an unpaid registration label. The registration label does not modify at all when you pay for it. You just get a reciepit thats kept at home.
It's the perfect plan... Isnt it?

technically, it is a great plan, BUT, if you ever get pulled over or in a crash, the registration WILL be run and when it comes back non existent or that you didn't pay then you will get in big trouble. 1) faulty registration 2) fraud |

Not if you get pulled over for something else. They'll check it on the system and see that you're not registered, then you could be held accountable for fraud. |

Ever heard of computers? Yes anyone runs the plate, busted. Your car insurance will also go up because you drove irresponsibly, cite expired registration, ins companies do care about that. |

Driving around, nobody will know... BUUUUTTT unfortunetly if u were to get pulled over they run your info through the system and see that its unpaid and ud get in alot of trouble... just like driving arounf nobody knows if u have insurrance or not but u get in a wreck or get pulled uver... then your in trouble

Until you get pulled over because the police do a random check on your licence plate - you'd get a fine for driving an unregistered car - then you'd have to take it over the pits to get it licenced and if it's an old/modified car you'd be up for a bit of expense to get it on the road. Oh and if your in an accident your fault or not - the police will find out and so will your insurance company... so maybe peel that sticker off till you pay it :P |

Sure its the perfect plan - to be put behind bars. It's highly illegal and I wouldn't do it. If you ever get pulled over by the cops, they run your license and registration. If you don't have it, well, you're screwed. |

First you will get a nice reminder to renew your rego.
Then they'll write to you to say that your vehicle isn't registered and can they have their plates back.
Then you'll get fined unless you fill out a stat dec saying why you can't return the plates - Lying under oath.
Then you'll be driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
Then you'll have an accident/speeding fine/random stop when all the above will come down on you like a ton of sh!t
Then you'll become intimate with Big Bubba in the showers of your local prison. No lube, no mercy. Have fun. |
