we both stop to check and everything was ok it was my fault but the other person didnt ask for anything like my information and he just wanted 100 dollars in that case what can i do can he get money out of me? by not placing a report...and he has my plate number can he do something about it?

You do not need to pay him anything, legally. I am assuming that you both inspected the non damage and then left the scene. A report should have been filed on his part in order to have legal paper trail at the very least. But, since he chose not to in my opinion it is over. But I am not a lawyer. I have been involved in similar incidents before and it was always nothing to worry about but, did you agree to pay him? if not don,t If you did stat true to your word and pay up. |

So, no police report, no information exchange. Um, okay, well I suppose if he wanted to, he could call his insurance company and give them your license plate number. They'll come after you, possibly- if you're at fault. I hope you didn't give him any money. Did you get any of his information?
Next time you do have an accident, this is the MINIMUM you should do:
Call the cops
Get ALL information from the other person - name address, phone, license plate, year/make/model of vehicle, insurance company name and policy number. Give the same info about yourself to the other party.
Then, when you get home, call your insurance company.
Also:
If you have a phone or a camera, take pics of the damage.
If there are any witnesses, get their names and numbers. |
