im getting my first car and im wondering how much it would be to add it to my dads insurance plan.It is a 1990 firebird

No one here can give you anything more than a guess on what it would cost. You need to ask your dad's insurance agent for a valid estimate of what it woud cost. |

It will really only cost more money if you have more drivers on your policy compared to vehicles. If you have only 1 person on your policy and 1 vehicle, adding a second vehicle won't cost much since you can only damage one vehicle at a time (in most cases). If you have 2 drivers on your policy and only 1 vehicle, adding the second vehicle will definately make the cost of your premium go up (I'm not sure how much though, too many factors involved).
The reason is that insurance policies will assign a principal driver to each vehicle for purposes of determining risk, risk of damage to the vehicle, risk of causing damage to someone else, etc. The policy assigns the principal driver based on what vehicle each driver drives. Hence the risk of damaging the vehicle being added to the policy is extremely low when it's assumed you'll be driving the first vehicle on the policy. |

Depends on a lot of factors - your age (which I'm assuming is under 18), the type of car (sporty cars cost more to insure), and the limits of insurance on the policy.
It's not going to be cheap! but it will be cheaper than getting your own policy. |
