Please know, I'm not being rude, but more so enlightening to give you direction and the tools I believe you need to answer your own question re this matter of "car insurance"! Smile!
With that, and with respect, I respond to your question as follows:
First ... and in "brief" (i.e., with brief descriptions given for each):
Do you have collision (pays for loss or damage to your car caused by collision with another object or by upset)
Do you have comprehensive (pays for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by fire, theft, vandalism, windstorm, riot, etc.)
Do you have uninsured motorist (pays for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by an accident involving an at-fault owner or operator of an uninsured motor vehicle)?
And, perhaps, even as important as the types/kinds of insurance you have for your vehicle ... how much is the DEDUCTIBLE for each? In other words ... if a "dent" is estimated to cost $750.00 and your deductible (cash paid out prior to the insurance "paying its share") is $1,000.00, then ... sorry to say ... the insurance company will NOT pay even one cent towards that $750.00 dent. Why? Because you must have at least $1,000.00 paid out of your pocket before the insurance company pays anything towards that dent!
Also note, age has nothing at all to do with what damage is covered and/or paid for and/or covered in-whole or in-part by the insurance company. The "age of the vehicle" and the value of the vehicle (Bentley versus Volkswagen - smile) are only used in determining that vehicle's premium total (monthly, yearly, etc.) For example: A 9 year old vehicle's premiums are very, very 'cheap' in comparison to a 2-year old vehicle and as a result, my premiums on each of the items categorized above is far cheaper than the premiums issued to a vehicle that is, as yours, only 2 years old, with one exception (smile): i.e., a "classic" such as a 1955 Classic Ford Thunderbird (smile)!
When you state above "i have few dents on my car is that covered ..." the first questions "I" (as a lay-person) find myself asking are: How were these dents obtained; what were the dates of these dents ...
Lastly, may I suggest that if "I" were in your shoes, I would not be asking these questions within Yahoo! Answers, but instead, would contact my insurance agent to ask him all of what you have included herein. Insurance agents are paid to "help and assist" the customer That's what insurance agents are paid for (smile)! Your agent would know your policy, your car, your deductible, etc. and is (I hope - smile), there to serve you; and, if he's not ... I'd suggest changing insurance companies and/or agents! Smile!
I hope I've been able to shed a little light on your dilemma! |
