Ok I bought a rv from my step dads friend (the title was not in his name) he bought it from his dads and the title was not in his name either(this I did not find out till I bought it) it was in his dads friends name and they live in lousiana and I live in texas, now his dad will help as much as he can(oh and I lost the title in between moves so how do I get the title in my name so I can trade it in and it does not have a lien on it and I can get intouch with the original owners so can someone please tell me what to do cause the people at the court house are mean and won't give me a clear answer

You're Royally screwed! That's what the people at the court house are trying to tell you. It is ILLEGAL to sell a vehicle without providing the buyer (you) with a CLEAR title. There's been several ILLEGAL sales of this RV. This is NOT your mess to clean up. Your best bet is to return the RV to the person you bought it from, and get ALL your money back.
If they refuse sue them (friends or not) in court to have the sale rescinded. Use the "Principle of Merchantability" as your defense, which means when you buy something you have a reasonable expectation of being able to use it, and without a CLEAR title you can NEVER register this RV in your name, and therefore can NOT use it. 99.99999999% of the time you'll win. |

You say that you can contact the original owner - that's what you need to do to start with...............get as much paperwork from them as they have, then work from there. Contact your dept of motor vehicles to see all that you will need to register the RV in your name |
