So very sorry this happened to you. You have reason to be concerned. If he only missed one or even two payments and you are long time customers of the insurance company, I suggest you contact them. I have known situations where they accept a late payment to get you insured retroactively. Doesn't make sense, but the doings of insurance companies is beyond normal understanding anyway.
I will pray for you. Hokey advice, but try to take this one day at a time. Think about what's good and will stay good even if you lose a lot financially. |

As everyone else has said, you will be needing to pay for the damages out of pocket, unless the other guy does not mind. I would recomend that if you cant make the full payment, then just tryin working something out where you give the guy money every month till its payed.
As long as the guy you hit is not looking to reap any benifits past getting his car fixed (like sueing you) then you will only have to pay for the repair |

You will be paying out of pocket. For the repairs, other guy's rental, everything... |

You can be fined for not having insurance, the other parties can sue you personally for any damages they have incurred that are your husband's fault.
I think in the UK you get points on your license too and the car can be crushed. |

You're going to pay for the car you hit and your car's expenses out of your pocket, and it is not going to be an easy fix.
You're not going to have to pay for the third car, but you might get stuck with the front bumper on the second car. |

Upset and pissed won't change anything - it's just wear and tear on you
It's common knowledge by anyone who drives that "no insurance" and driving
is risky at the most. Many states impose a big fine the this and suspend your
license if it is not paid. That's before you even get to the accident damage to
the other vehicle - I assume your husband was at fault and was ticketed ?
For the other person's vehicle damage - their insurance company will pay to
repair and then come after your husband for re-payment of whatever costs
were involved to settle with the other driver. I hope a wish for the best but
it's just a bad situation to be in. |

You are personally responsible for the costs of damages and injuries to the other party involved. |

Well, you can kiss your house goodbye.
You are "on the hook" for all the damages - the car you hit, and the car you pushed that other car into. You are also on the hook for all medical bills and pain & suffering & lost wages.
If they file the claim with their insurance, their insurance company will come after you for the money. If you can't pay it right away, they can get your license suspended, until the debt is paid. They can attach your wages. If the car is in both your names, they can attach BOTH your wages. If you have any equity in your house, they can force you to sell it and give them the equity.
You WILL end up paying for this, but it might take 20 or 30 years.
You need an attorney. |

If the accident is your husband's fault, he (and you, by default) will be personally responsible for the damages to all involved vehicles, and if anyone claims injury, you're responsible for that and pain and suffering, too. And not to mention rental vehicles for the other owners, because by law, you are required to provide alternate transportation.
I am really sorry you are going to have to go through this because of your husband's bad choices. |

In Texas, if you have an accident and have no insurance, you are automatically assumed at fault for the wreck. Your car insurance (if you had it) would pay for the 2nd car, and the 2nd car's insurance will pay for the first car. However, since you have no insurance, you will have out of pocket expenses for the car that he hit, plus any medical bills that accrue. You are also perfectly set, at this point, for the individual that he hit to sue. Hopefully, the person that he hit will not be one of those people who believe in suing for every little thing, and will work with you. But there will be fines, and the damage to the other vehicle that will be automatically out of pocket. Sorry... |

All 50 states require vehicle liability insurance to protect those who were not at fault in a vehicle crash.
Failure to carry liability insurance on your vehicle will normally result in suspension of your license no matter what state you live in.
Unfortunately, without insurance, if your husband was at fault in the crash, as a couple, you are liable for all the damages and medical costs not only to the first car that was hit but to the other vehicle that was subsequently hit as a result of the crash.
Depending on the state's laws, the vehicle owner's insurance may pay for any damages to the other vehicles and then, the insurance company will go after the owner who was at fault to recover their losses.
You could be liable for a law suit if you have any assets that the other parties can go after.
This is a very serious situation and you may need to look at hiring a lawyer to help you through. You may be able to arrange a payment plan to pay off the damages if you don't have enough assets to cover the losses. |
