already asked this question but i wanted to add that i live in Virginia
ok im 20 yrs old i got a speeding ticket for driving 100mph at 3 am in the morning I know it was stupid to drive that fast and im in a world of trouble with not only the law but my parents my court summons is like 21 days from now and thats not even the real court date wich is killling me every moment of the day i cant even pay attention at work or in class im thinking about what will happen its seriously blowing my mind......my driving record is clean im a student i work and im in the process of joining the airforce im not asking anyone to sugar code it but please dont scare me anymore than i am already what can i expect.......especially if you have had expieriance with something like this give me some advice on what to do in court....Please! thankyou for your help......

Jason P you are very right and as i said i know that it was stupid i put not only my life in danger but someone elses......and the Cnn report i saw it so that why i asked thats what scared the hell outta me!

How did the stop go? Where the police cool with you or where they excessively angry/upset? Where you respectful to the police officers during the stop, and how did they clock you? Where in VA where you and was it a county cop or a trooper?
You definately need a lawyer, expect to pay probably minimum $750-$1000 for a good one. I was able to get a first time ticket reduced to improper driving (3 points) with a $500 fine. I was going 140+ in a 45mph zone. However the officers where unable to clock me and cited me for reckless general. I was very lucky, and needless to say can't imagine my speedo ever topping 100 again. Not only was I lucky to get the ticket lessened, I'm lucky to even be alive...
It mostly depends on how the cop feels about the situation, and your lawyer. I went to court fully expecting to lose my license for a long time, and fairly sure I would face jail time, but the cop was awesome and agreed to a plea with the prosecutor. |

Well...what if I had been on the road with my kids at that time? Think about that. Someone could have been on a long trip at that time of night and had their kids with them and you come along and wreck them.
How would you feel then? This is why there are laws. |

You won't go to jail but you will get reckless driving added to your record, a huge fine and lose your license for a minimum 6 months (or until your 21, which ever is longer). Dumb dumb dumb, but it sounds like you learned your lesson. |

The copy of the ticket which you received should have contact information for the court clerk's office to which the case is assigned. You may be able to pay the fines in lieu of going to court. Give them a call and see what you would have to pay. |
