can arizona currently issue a warrant for my arrest on a traffic ticket from 14 years ago
COMPL DISMISSED BY CTY ATTY" back in 2002 is what it reads on the court website for my case

When called the Sedona Court the clerk told me they had a hold on my Ca. license renewal due the ticket i got on 12/08/1996 and wanted me to send 1250.00 dollars before they would take the hold off my license and if i didnt pay it and plead guilty by phone last week ,,they would issue a warrant for my arrest in which they have done yesterday ....my question is : why is this coming up 14 years later and when i look the case up online it says DISMISSED BY CTY ATTY on 5/01/2002 ? and since it says this is it really dismissed and if so why are they holding my lisence now? -

I make no judgement on whether the ticket should have been paid, that was not the question. However, cases are not debts and can be dismissed. Only adjudications can be construed as a debt to the court.
First, get a print out of the website showing that the complaint was dismissed.
Second, see if you can get an official print out from the Sedona City Attorney records showing that the case was dismissed.
Next, call the City or County Clerk of Court and explain that the case was dismissed. Then ask what their records show and offer to fax them a notarized copy of the city attorney's record of dismissal.
It may be that their computer system or filing system has not been updated to reflect the dismissal. Sometimes the people making the data entries make mistakes.
One piece of advice.., government officials get hassled all day long. If you are polite and ask questions that are in line with "how can I get this issue cleared up?" they are much easier to work with.
However, be prepared if you find that the case was not dismissed and the error was on the website. You may find that your case was adjudicated and you were found guilty in absentia. You may still owe the court for the fine and costs associated.

Why was it "dismissed in 2002?" Did you do something to get this to happen?
It sounds like you just blew it off, found that on the website and are asking why that doesn't apply.
