WHO are the policeman that you see at night wearing black tactical uniforms NO.... It'S not the Swat Team, FBI, ATF, or DEA with the sunglass on, riding in special cars, with smoke coming out their noses. does anyone know what they do?

i have never seen police officers of this description. in what city would this be taking place ? are you sure you didn't have some sort of smoke coming out of your own nose when you seen this ? |

different departments allow for different uniforms. Our county k9 officer wears tactical "bdu" style uniforms because they hold up better over the long run than other style uniforms. Also, the pockets allow him to carry all the goodies he's got to have to do his job, flashlight, gloves, treat for the dog, extra handcuffs for when a vehicle has multiple passengers.
Usually they are some sort of tactical unit. It could be anything, and they aren't just out there at night. |

More and more departments are equipping their patrol officers with BDUs these days. These are more comfortable, durable, and easily maintained than traditional polyester or wool blend uniforms. These are usually worn only by the night shift in most areas, with the traditional "dress" uniform worn on day shift. It may well be that you are just seeing the regular patrol officers, but in a different uniform. |

Are they in police cars? See if you can see any identification on the vehicle they are driving. If you are near enough to one of these officers, see if you can read the patch (if any) on his uniform. It could be that they are from a near by prison and are prison officers. |
