That is a minor error.
It would be very rare for a court to dismiss a ticket for that type of an error.
It is an urban myth that you can get traffic tickets dismissed just because they have minor errors in them. |

no the judge will still find you guilty |

You can try, but the courts usually side on the favor of the police. |

Of course you can fight it. But why? Your guilty, aren't you? |

Does the wrong plate type change the fact that you broke the law?
No, you can not fight it. Minor errors can be amended at any time |

Can't, country law says if you are driving a vehicle with insurance and get a ticket your liable |

You can go to court and fight it, but you will not win. If you legally got the traffic ticket and it has identifying information of who you are then you are still liable for that ticket. Tickets can be amended at anytime and are only used as a tool for what is being charged. Putting the wrong plate type does not negate the fact you broke the law and a judge will not allow that as an argument. |

the best thing you can do is go to court, and hope the cop doesn't show up to get away with paying it, and avoid any points. If the cop put passenger on the ticket, he is probably giving you a break, so if you go to court, and the type changes to commercial, then you may be required to pay a higher price! |

Take it to court and request a jury trial. most of the time they won't want to bother using a jury to collect on a traffic ticket and will drop it. |

He cut you a break. If he wrote down commercial it could have hurt your CDL. If you defend yourself based on that don't be surprised if the judge upgrades it to commercial and you lose your CDL. |

maybe if you give a little more info about what happened you might have a chance but most of the time you have to report any traffic infractions to your supervisor and most of the time because fo insurance purposes they fire you on the spot |

There is no hamr in trying. You will have to pay the ticket upfront though. Atleast in Pa you do. Although in today's eceonomy I highly doubt they are going to let you win. Everyone needs all the money they can get and I am sure they are being more strict on the tickets that get dropped. But if you go and waste there time then they really didn't get any money. Good luck! |

yes, most people just pay the ticket. if you appear they usually drop the charge to a lesser offense. you will still have to pay something for court costs. usually they drop it to a no point violation. small fine and court costs. if you still want to fight it you can most people take the lesser. cops get paid overtime for court so they always show and tie goes to the cop. |
