Te article didn't say it wasn't a hate crime. There's some mistaken idea out there that only minorities qualify as hate crime victims, but that's not the way the laws read. Jury interpretation may be another thing, of course.

Sounds like a hate crime to me.

As for whether there should be a separate category, I'm not sure at this point. It does seem that if you beat up somebody only because they're black or white or hispanic, that's an especially bad thing. But on the other hand, what if you beat up somebody only because you hate left-handed people? (personally, I don't quite hate them but they really annoy me, with their special scissors and so on). That doesn't seem very nice either but it doesn't fit the hate crime statute.

I have been a career criminal all my life, and I would just like to state for the record, that I have never ever committed a crime against anyone out of hate. That is a bad business to get into. I have always done it for money, the same reason most people go to work, and although I often enjoy my work like anybody else, there are some days I would not get out of the house and down to business if I did not have a mortgage to pay. But hate is not a motivator that will get you through life. Remember the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Unless they are an insurance company.

I think thats really wrong. All people are equal but i guess some dont think so. Hopefully that guy is in a better place. :]

That is despicable and sad, as is any hate crime.
The sad truth is that any hate crime commited against non-minorities is not viewed as such.

I only recently heard about this, actually on cnn by a black reporter who was sick of hate crime period. There was also the poor black girl in West Virginia that was taken captive by a group of cruel white supremacists that tortured her.

All of these are equally horrible. The only solution is not reparations, or hurting those that hurt you (or your race). We must all learn to love and accept one another regardless of skin color.

All violent crimes are hate crimes. You wouldn't do them if there wasn't hate in your heart. Hate crimes are just the liberal's attempt to make minority groups feel special.
