He was approx. 25 years old and I thought young cops always write tickets. He asked me how was my driving record and I told him clean. He said I will be right back to verify that. He came back with a warning ticket only.
Are most cops this cool? I always heard that the young cops never let anybody go because they write everything. Is that true? If so, how could I be so lucky? Was he maybe bi or gay and liked me? I am just at a lost, I can't understand why he let me go.

My wife told me if she were the hwy patrolman that she would have given me a ticket. She said the only thing that matters is that I was speeding...end of discussion. Is my wife too hard?

It happens. If you were a first time offender or were new to the area there is a good chance they will just give you a warning. I was driving home from college one time, got caught for going 15 over and said I wasn't from the area. He let me go with a warning. |

This can't be a real question.
I think your ignorance of the law and stereotypes regarding law enforcement is showing, be careful.
Cops are real people. They have a job and a personality just like the rest of us. It doesn't mean he's "gay" if he lets you off the hook, you could have just shown him respect and have a clean record.
It's actually been proven that a warning can sometimes deter people from committing the same traffic violation again for the fear that they may get the real thing one day. Tickets anger people and are shown to be less effective as a deterrent.
EDIT: Regardless of what your wife would have done, the officer is allowed to have compassion. Does every policeman? No. But most do if you show them some respect and weren't doing anything crazy. Where do you people get off insulting cops like this? Next time you need one, call someone else. |

Because you believed in the stereotype that said all cops are racist. The fact is that most cops are not cool. It isn't because a person is black, white, brown, etc. It is because most cops hate everyone equally. |
