Lady was taking over payments on my car...made 2 payments...very late also...and then disappeared. She left her rent house with all utilities on as well according to the landlord. The police won't even make a report or help in any way at all. She ran up $900 in toll fees before she took off! I was told this is "unauthorized use of the vehicle" and is only a civil matter. It has now been 5 months and I don't want to continue to pay the payments or insurance! Can anyone help???

The police were correct. Once you made an agreement that she take over payments, you gave her possession of the vehicle and made a civil agreement regarding the payments. All you can do is try to locate her and file a civil suit. You can always stop making the payments and tell the lien holder what happened and hope they can locate the vehicle and repossess it, but you are still on the hook for the loan, and if you cancel insurance and she is in a wreck, you can be civilly responsible. |

When you find her beat her azz. Until then go over to her house and help yourself to whatever you can find of any value.

if you have paperwork stating she was taking over payments you can publicly serve her for damages and cost of your time/trouble. if it becomes a criminal matter, which it may, you can charge punitive damages. cops won't tell you this cause they can't, not a cop anymore so i can.
oh to publicly serve her you have to make a recorded effort to serve her privately, finding her is the hardest thing. after a set time, judge will tell you, you can serve her publicly, in a newspaper or something. then if she don't appear you win and can put a lien on her property |
