This is a good topic you posted. I know you were trying to get questions to ask a law enforcement officer, but look at some of the questions that are being asked by these people.
Why don't you people ask these questions on here? There are a lot of Law enforcement officers that browse through Yahoo answers and they could answer a lot of those questions you are asking. |
|

thanks for the memories

what do you do when someone is being difficult while in the arresting process? that will get him going on so many stories, you won't even have to ask your other questions. |

How often do they have to use force?
What's their opinion of the safety in the surrounding community
How many hours of training did they have to go through
What's their opinion on the right to bare arms?

Why did he enter law enforcement?
Is there a written/unwritten quota of traffic citations officers are expected to give?
Does he use his authority for personal gain (i.e - name drop "I'm a cop")?
Would he rather 10 guilty men go free or 1 innocent man go to jail?

What's the most difficult situation you have faced?
What's the most rewarding situation you have been in?
What do you do to not take things personally when faced with people groups, organizations (or such) that have an inherent distrust of police in general?
What makes you proudest of the career you have chosen, and service you provide?
Finally my personal choice if you were to ask only one ask this…
Realizing that police are only human and obviously capable of making mistakes. What kind of training is in place (or should be in place) to aid police in not allowing an adrenalin rush of a car/foot pursuit ending in a media frenzy about police brutality?
If you get the answers to these I’d like to know them. |

Hey there
|
law class? hm mm...
I can think of two off the top of my head....
1. ask him how Terry v. Ohio has effects his job on a daily basis
2. ask him what the reasons are for warantless searches
Make him think.. don't ask him personal questions, it's too easy. Your in a law class, what a great way to check to see if he remembers the actual laws, or if he's just used to following policy and doesn't know why.
When he walks out of there, you want him to go back and say "wow, those guys killed me", not "all they asked me about was why I want to be a cop". Leave those questions for the kids on field trips. |

ask him/her what they think of the DC court ruling that banned handguns after three girls were raped for more than seven hours and they called the police twice, the first time a cruiser only drove by the house, the second call was never responded to. ask how if the court rules that the police have no actual duty to protect you, why are you not allowed to protect yourself either?
and yes, this actually happened. |
