Advice for future CHP cadet?

I'm 19 and currently working towards getting my AA in Criminal Justice, I want to apply for the CHP eventually in another 2 years or so and become an officer. I have been trying to prepare for it mentally and physically so far, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to better prepare myself for the demanding requirements expected of a CHP cadet. Also, I was wondering how big a part of the academy includes swimming?

You're the most literate 19 year old future cop I've seen on here. Judging by from what I've read, you will be fine. You sound responsible and intelligent, which is rare in this group to see (usually the "future officers" write like retarded monkeys - and have zero future as an officer)
