I heard you can get a ticket from after market exhaust. Does that mean all after markets are illegal. flomaster,banks, silverline? I live in Califorinia

Many people remove the catalytic converter when they update exhaust, it's against the law.
Just adding a flowmaster or Borla exhaust isn't illegal.
Bolt on systems are legal. Custom made are legal as long as you keep the emissions standards the same.
As for noise, I had a Flowmaster w/ turn-down in high school and it was loud (makes no sense btw). I never had problems w/ cops and noise.
And if you're going to take advantage of the rumble -- don't go smaller than 3" tips...or an equivalent airflow.
I went w/ 2.5" tips before I hacked them off in exchange for the 4" turn-downs and it muted the grumble...counter-intuitive if you're wanting that rumble.
And if the guys at the shop are selling you on adding horsepower -- it's not true...and if coupled w/ the wrong setup can reduce horsepower or change the power band.
K&N Filter had more of noticeable difference than did adding exhaust. |

im sure if your exhaust is too load, has none of the emissions on it. (like the catalytic converter) you would. |
