That's well above a "lethal" BAC reading. While tolerances to alcohol are different for certain people (I've been coherent well past the point I was "supposed" to be unconscious), I really doubt someone could blow that high. They'd be puking, their liver and vital organs would be failing, etc... and they'd probably pass out or die well before they could reach such a high mark.

Unless they had been injecting everclear directly into their system, or drinking through their a** (faster absorption =), and with their last breath blew a .7... I don't see it happening on an accurate reading.

I have a friend who is a ranger on the reservation who told me he had a guy blow over .6 who was still up and talking.

.71 would be amazingly drunk. Most department "records" are in the .44 area. I've heard of .5s...But .071...I can't imagine that person not being in a coma or dead.

No. There was one around Seattle recently that was .46 or .48 and they couldn't believe that she was functioning at all. .71 would definitely kill you and you wouldn't be able to blow on a breathalyzer test.

not sure. I blew a .199 and I was drunk...can't imagine that. Maybe in a coma...close to death???? sorry I'm not more help!

The highest BAC that I have personally seen was .47 and the guy was still walking and talking. I have seen a lot of alcoholics who have a "maintenance level" around .15 or .20 (that's where they start off their day and build from there). I have heard of .6 and .7's but they are very rare.

Yes it is possible but that is probably not an accurate reading. When something is that high it usually means that there is some type of residual alcohol in their mouth. Usually caused by mouth wash,brandy soaked chewing tobacco, etc. Before giving a breathalyzer the person should be watched 20 minutes before hand to make sure they don't drink, smoke, vomit or regurgitate anything

I've had a patient with a blood alcohol of .769. He was a chronic alcoholic and had an amazingly high tolerance. Also in playing around with Breathalyzers if you put an alcohol prep pad in you mouth you can blow exceedingly high BA numbers (.8 and above)

If they are embalmed or dead from alcohol poisoning perhaps. The legal limit in most places is between .07 and .10. The human body will shut itself down to protect itself from death by alcohol poisoning around .3. The only way to get beyond that point is to consume massive amounts of alcohol in a very short period of time before you r body forces you to stop by passing out. That is how people can die from drinking too much, but nowhere near.7!
