okay, so december 10th i was placed on diversion for missing school, i signed a paper saying that i wouldnt miss anymore school without a drs. note. obviously, i missed quite a bit of school (3 weeks, plus) due to "stress" and alot going on with my family, i had to go to the court house for a meeting with the court designated worker, he said that i had missed to much to ignore and he would set up a court date! so, my mom took me to school all in the same day to see about dropping out untill next and starting freshman year all over again, that wont work, since im 15, my priciple suggested putting me on "home bound" untill next year.
my doctor said he would sign the papers saying home bound would be good for me, after i turn these papers in ill be good to go..
BUT- will i still have to go to court? if so what is most likely going to happen?
also, i live in the state of kentucky.

the court designated worker HAS told me that IIII, ME, I am the one held responsible for missing school because i am in high school and i am capable to get myself to school

See if your Mom can get you an appointment with a therapist. You are not the only one who didn't go to school because of stress. My daughter had panic attacks every time I would bring her to school. She is being taught by tuttors now. She also got meds from a phychiatrist to help with the stress. I am not to sure about the court thing, but if you had a medical reason(stress) I would think that would clear the court problem. Good luck with everything Try to get through your school years. There is not much of a future without finishing high school. |

In the state of Kentucky (where I live) the parents are usually the ones held liable for their children's absence from school. What you are doing is putting them at risk for being arrested. Truancy is taken pretty seriously here. My mother had a visit from a social worker when I was in my senior year of high school for missing so much school.
If you have paperwork or information advising of a court date, then yes, you need to go or you/your parents could be charged with failure to appear. |
